COMMON QUESTIONS & ANSWERS – GET FIT LIVE FIT

Make New Friends    Commit Yourself    Live a Fit Life    Go Outside & Move    Motivate Others

The following are common questions and answers to pertaining to our program.

"I’ve never joined a program before and am a little unsure if this is the right atmosphere for me.”

It is the goal of Get Fit Live Fit Directors and Program Administrators to ensure that each and every individual feels welcome, has a positive experience and enjoys the entire process. We want you to achieve your goals regardless of what they may be or how they may compare to others.  They are your goals and we’re here to help you!

"I’ve never ran before - are there any classes for me?"
Consider trying the Learn to Run or Beginning 5k run class. The main goal of each clinic is to teach you how to run continuously or to run a 5K.

"How much does it cost to participate? What is included?"
All walking, learn to run and 5k/10k programs are 10 weeks duration for only $75.00, while the ½ marathon program is 12 weeks and $99.00.  All programs include a personalized training program, FREE technical tee ($40 value), Fit Right Northwest’s monthly e-newsletter, discount on merchandise at Fit Right Northwest stores, online access to your personal account information and useful fitness calculators.

"How do I know what programs are available?"

Review our program listing online or visit your closest Fit Right Northwest store.

"What’s the benefit to me for joining one of the training programs?"

Walking and Running with a group provides motivation, friendship, ensures adherence and support to keep you walking and running, so that you can achieve your goals. Our program instruction helps ensure you are walking or running properly to prevent injury and there is always someone on hand to answer any questions you may have. Our educational class format is designed to have professionals available to answer any and all of your specific questions.  Each Wednesday and Saturday meetings will have pace leaders available to assist with the group training portion and help keep you on track with your goals.

"If I join, will I have a personal coach available to me at each practice session and will they be there to follow up with me and keep me on track with my goals?"
As a participant in one of our programs, you will receive a program written specifically for you based upon the information to provide during the initial survey process.   Each program is written by a professional and experienced coach.  Each Wednesday and Saturday training session will have pace leaders and other program members participating and coming together to execute their specific workouts together as a group.  The rest of the week, it’s up to you to follow your individualized program. Our educational seminars and online email resources will also be available to provide you with the proper information to assist you in achieving your individual goals.

"How many people can sign up for each program offering?"
There is no limit. Since each program is designed to have several different pace groups (to meet everyone's running goals and abilities), the number of pace groups will be expanded to meet a larger group of participants.  These groups meet on Wednesday’s and Saturday’s.

"Is it still possible to sign up for a clinic after it has already started?"

Yes. Only if you sign up within the first week. If you miss more than the first week, we recommend that you wait for the next program in order to have a positive and complete experience

"Will I be too young/old to be in a clinic?"
Currently, the program minimum age is 18 and over.  With these training programs, there is usually a broad range of age, men vs. women and experience levels participating.

"What do I need to wear?"
Come ready to walk or run. Most program participants prefer to wait until after the first program to purchase a pair of shoes so they can be properly fitted in the running shoe best suited to their needs. You will be provided with a technical tee on your first day and it is recommended that you wear the t-shirt during the clinic so that the instructor and group leaders will be able to identify you.

"I have kids - will they be able to attend?"
Children under 18 are permitted to sign up for a clinic if accompanied by an adult, but 10K, Marathon and Half Marathon clinics are available only to those over 18. Moms or Dads wanting to push their children in baby joggers is fine for Wednesday and Saturday sessions.

"What level of fitness do I need to participate in a clinic?"
In order to prevent injury, it is recommended that you take a clinic best suited to your current fitness level. For more complete details about each program and determining which one is right for you, please review our detailed offering of programs.

Learn to Run, 5k, 10k & ½ marathon programs require approval of your doctor to commence a running program if you possess any cardiac risk factors. If you can currently run gently for 1-2 minutes then you are ready. The pace while running should be gentle enough that you can carry on a conversation.

10K Training participants should currently be able to run for 25 minutes or about 5K using a combination of 10 minutes of running and 1 minute of walking.

1/2 Marathon clinic members should currently run 5miles or 40 minutes in distance with a combination of 10 minutes of running and 1 minute of walking.
